Navasky Anderson lowered the national 800m record for the second time at the ongoing World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan. Anderson clocked 1.42.76 to finish 7th in the final on the penultimate day of competition.
Meanwhile, three of four Jamaican teams will contest the final of their respective relays on Sunday’s final day of competition.
In the women's 4x100m Jamaica, the quartet of Jodean Williams, Tia Clayton, Tina Clayton and Jonielle Smith won heat 1 in a season’s best 41.80 seconds to make progress.
However, there was disaster for the men’s team of Ackeem Blake, Oblique Seville, Ryiem Forde and Kishane Thompson failed to finish after a botched exchange between Ford and Thompson.
In the women's mile relay, the team of Dejanea Oakley, Stacey- Ann Williams, Roneisha McGregor and Nickisha Pryce clocked 3 minutes, 22.77 seconds to win heat 1 of their event. They head into the final with the second fastest time.
The men's equivalent Bovel McPherson, Jevaughn Powell, Jasauna Dennis and Delano Kennedy placed fourth in heat 2 in 2 minutes, 59.13 seconds to place 4th in their heat and made it to the final as the one of two non-automatic qualifiers.
