The Golden State Warriors won their 4th NBA title and their first in 40 years, with an exciting 105-97 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 6 in Cleveland Tuesday night in front of 20,562 largely Cleveland fans and millions watching around the world. The Warriors won the best of seven series 4-2.
League MVP Stephen Curry was at it again scoring 25 points and dishing out 8 assists, while finals MVP Andre Iguodala shot 25 points, held 5 rebounds and provided 5 assists.
There is no question the finals changed when Warriors coach Steve Kerr, himself a 5-time NBA Champion as a player and in his rookie year as head coach, inserted Iguodala into the Warriors' starting line up for game 4 and played small ball. The Warriors who were 1-2 down in the series went on to win 3 straight games and the title with Iguodala providing the help Steph Curry needed, which Lebron James with another monster game for the Cavs did not receive.
James shot 32 points held 18 rebounds and dished out 9 assists for a finals performance worthy of the MVP award even though he was on the losing team.
For the Warriors, Draymond Green had a triple double, 16 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists, while Shaun Livingstone shot 10 points and so did Festus Ezeli.
Tristan Thompson scored 15 point for the Cavs, Tomefey Mozgoz dropped in 17 points and J.R. Smith 19.
There were 3 lead changes and 2 tied scores in game 6 which took 2 hrs and 48 minutes.
