Jamaica eliminated 1-0 by Argentina in Copa America

Jamaica lost their third straight game 1-0 at the 44th Copa America tournament in Vina Del Mar on Saturday, this time to top gun Argentina, the two time World Cup Champions.

In a gutsy display, soaking up tremendous pressure for most of the game, the Reggae Boyz broke free in the final 20 minutes of the match and had Argentina on the back foot nursing their 1-0 lead.

The lead came as early as the 11th minute, again from a defensive breakdown which allowed Gonzalo Higuain to slot home to the right of a hapless Dwayne Miller in goal with a low right footer.

Argentina had all their top stars, Messi, Zabaleta, DiMaria, Mascherano, Tevez, Rojo, but struggled in the final 20 minutes of the game as the Argentines seemed to run out of gas. Also, excellent substitutions by head coach Winfried Schaefer injected life into Jamaica's game. Simon Dawkins and Giles Barnes for example made an impact, while starter Jobi McAnuff had another strong game for Jamaica.

He dribbled with guile, made deft passes and constantly troubled the Argentines.

In the end, Jamaica ended without a point and a goal difference of -3, as they lost all three matches 1-0 to Uruguay, Paraguay and Argentina.

Argentina topped the Group with 7 points, Paraguay were second with 5 points and Uruguay third 3 points.

Jamaica return home from Chile, before they take on CONCACAF teams in the Gold Cup starting July 6.
