No Jamaicans nominated for World Athletics Athletes of the Year Awards

Jamaica once again does not have any athlete nominated for the World Athletics Track Athlete of the Year Award. 

Despite winning his first world 100m title and Jamaica's only individual gold medal last month at the World Championships in Tokyo, Oblique Seville missed out on being be shortlisted.

An Monday, World Athletics revealed its shortlist of standout performers, including the likes of Noah Lyles, Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone and Faith Kipyegon.

Jamaica has brought home the award 10 times, more than every other country outside of the United States, but had zero nominees last year. The finalists will be chosen by public vote and World Athletics panels, with voting closing on October 19.
