The fast-growing track club Sprint Tech has formalized its partnership with GC Foster College with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)  between the two entities on Friday. The partnership began when Sprintec was formed in 2013 and head coach Maurice Wilson explained how the agreement with the college will work going forward.

“Sprintec will have the access to great facilities at GC Foster College and athletes can be residential so they can pay to stay on campus which will help the coffers of the college,” said Wilson. Board chairman at GC Foster College David Mais described the MOU as a win-win situation for both parties.

“Some of the students will have the opportunity of training with and being part of the education programme of elite athletes and so that really excites them” said Mais. The Sprintec Track Club currently has a total of 11 athletes but this is set to be increased to 13 as sprinter Sasha-Lee Forbes and sprint hurdler Yanique Thompson have now graduated from GC Foster College and will be officially joining the club next month.
