"Tegat" replaces Duckie as Mount Pleasant's head coach

Report by RJRGLEANER Communications Group Sports Reporter Jeremain Brown

Former national striker Paul "Tegat" Davis has returned as head coach for Mount Pleasant Academy, replacing Donovan Duckie who was fired on Monday night. 57 year old Davis guided the St.Ann-based club to the Red Stripe Premier League in the 2017/18 season but was replaced by Duckie at the start of last season.

However, Duckie who led Mount Pleasant to the semi-finals of the competition, was shown the door by owner Peter Gould in an emergency meeting on Monday. The meeting came after Mount Pleasant suffered a 2-1 defeat to Harbour View at Drax Hall in the opening game on Sunday.

Duckie who was also removed as national Under 23 coach last month, joins Jerome Waite and Fabian Taylor as the coaching casualties in the league over the last week. Davis' first game will be next Sunday away to Humble Lion.

Davis won the RSPL title in 2016 with Montego Bay United and had a stint with Arnett Gardens from 2010 - 2012.
