Two Jamaican referees, Daneon Parchment and Oshane Nation, are among the group of Central American and Caribbean colleagues that are in line to be officially certified over the next few days to use the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology.

As part of its effort to incorporate VAR into its competitions in 2021, CONCACAF will undertake its fourth and final phase of VAR certification in Costa Rica from April 1-4.

CONCACAF has been collaborating with the Costa Rican Football Federation to fully certify the use of var.

Five matches per day will be played specifically to allow the referees to have hands-on experience of VAR, prior to CONCACAF's implementation of the technology in its competitions.

The 22 referees comprising 19 men and 3 women who will undergo the final VAR certification, hail from 15 different Central American and Caribbean member associations.
