Pollster Don Anderson
By Halshane Burke
Most Jamaicans would like to see fixed election dates become a reality.
This according to the latest RJRGLEANER Don Anderson polls
The poll revealed that 81 per cent of those surveyed voiced support for fixing the dates for both the general parliamentary and local government elections.
Fourteen per cent were not in favour of fixed dates for the general elections while 15 per cent said no to fixing the date for the local polls.
Pollster Don Anderson explained that people from the upper socio economic group were mostly in support of fixed dates.
In 2016 Prime Minister Andrew Holness announced in Parliament that he had given instructions for the drafting of legislation for the introduction of fixed election dates.
At that time he stated that the current system was adding to the cost of doing business and delaying the growth agenda.
