Radio Jamaica Sports can report that Jamaica's team to next month's World Relays in the Bahamas has been hit by the withdrawal of four athletes.
JAAA president Garth Gayle confirmed our report that Olympic and World Championships mile relay medallist Stacey-Ann Williams is among the athletes who have been withdrawn along with three of her training partners from the Elite Performance Group. Gayle said the withdrawals were belated.
Kemba Nelson, who helped Jamaica secure silver in the 4x100 metres at the 2022 World Championships, has also been pulled from the already inexperienced squad.
Gayle also confirmed that former World Under-20 4x100 metre gold medallist Tia Clayton was added to the women's sprint relay pool prior to the withdrawals.
On the men's side, sprinters Nigel Ellis and Javorne Dunkley have also withdrawn from the squad. The athletes cited unforeseen circumstances for their withdrawals.
